The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) engaged with women delegates from the Myanmar Engineering Council (MEngC) during their visit to Kuala Lumpur, fostering professional exchange and strengthening ties between the engineering communities of Malaysia and Myanmar.
Accompanied by Ir. Zainab Kayat and Ir. Irene Lock Sow Mei, the programme commenced with a visit to the iconic PETRONAS Twin Towers Skybridge, where delegates gained an appreciation of one of Malaysia’s most renowned engineering and architectural achievements.
The delegation then explored the Suria KLCC precinct, including a Formula One race car display that sparked engaging discussions on engineering innovation, advanced materials, aerodynamics, and high-performance design. The exhibit served as an example of how engineering excellence continues to drive technological advancement across industries.
Over lunch at Cili Kampung, delegates exchanged experiences over authentic Malaysian cuisine and experienced a taste of Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage. The luncheon provided a relaxed setting for cultural exchange, informal engagement, and the strengthening of professional relationships.
In the afternoon, delegates visited Petrosains, The Discovery Centre, where interactive exhibits showcased the role of science, technology, engineering, and innovation in shaping the future. The visit highlighted Malaysia’s commitment to STEM education and demonstrated how innovation continues to transform industries and society.
More than a technical visit, the programme served as a valuable platform for knowledge sharing, professional networking, and sisterhood bonding, reinforcing the importance of regional collaboration in advancing the engineering profession. The visit concluded on a positive note, reflecting IEM’s continued commitment to strengthening partnerships within the ASEAN engineering community and fostering lasting professional friendships.
