KUALA LUMPUR, 22 September 2026 – ENGINEER and MARVEX 2026 officially opened today at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), bringing together stakeholders across the engineering, energy and HVAC&R sectors to accelerate knowledge exchange, business collaboration and technology adoption.
The event serves as a strategic industry platform for stakeholders to align industry development with national policies and emerging market opportunities. Key areas highlighted include data centre infrastructure, power transmission and distribution, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and HVAC&R technologies, supporting Malaysia’s priorities in energy transition, digital infrastructure, sustainable development and industrial competitiveness.
The official opening ceremony was officiated by YB Dato’ Sri Abdul Rahman Haji Mohamad, Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA). The ceremony featured addresses by Dato’ Vincent Lim, C.I.S President; Mr Gan Chok Ser, MACRA President; and Ir. Yau Chau Fong, President of The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM).Distinguished guests included Dato’ Sri Dr Abdul Khani Daud, Chairman of C.I.S; Mr Danny Chang, MARVEX Organising Chairman; and Ir. Alex Looi, ENGINEER Organising Chairman.
In his address, YB Dato’ Sri Abdul Rahman highlighted Malaysia’s ongoing energy transition and the importance of expanding renewable energy capacity, including the Large Scale Solar 6 (LSS6) programme. LSS6 forms part of Malaysia’s efforts to accelerate solar energy development, with the programme expected to add nearly 2 GW of solar capacity and attract an estimated RM6 billion in private investment. The initiative reflects the growing role of large-scale renewable energy projects in supporting Malaysia’s energy transition.
The speakers highlighted the vital role of engineers in ensuring reliable water and electricity supply while supporting a more sustainable and resilient energy future. With energy demand expected to rise significantly, investment in renewable energy, green technologies and modern infrastructure will be essential.
The event also underscored the importance of collaboration among government, industry, professional institutions and engineering practitioners in achieving Malaysia’s renewable energy targets for 2030 and 2050. The transition is expected to create new opportunities for engineers in areas including renewable energy, energy efficiency, smart grid technologies and sustainable infrastructure.
ENGINEER and MARVEX 2026 brings together industry players, professional associations and exhibitors to showcase innovative solutions, exchange knowledge and strengthen collaboration as Malaysia prepares for the evolving demands of the energy, water and built-environment sectors.
