The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) successfully held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Annual Dinner on 18 April 2026, marking a significant milestone in the Institution’s calendar. The AGM was conducted in a hybrid format at Wisma IEM, with 190 members attending physically and 1,118 members joining online, reflecting strong participation and engagement from the engineering community.
During the AGM, key matters of the Institution were presented and deliberated. A highlight of the session was the Presidential Address by the newly appointed IEM President, Ir. Yau Chau Fong, who introduced his vision of “Creating Impact”, underscoring IEM’s commitment to strengthening its role and relevance in shaping the engineering profession and contributing meaningfully to national development.

The AGM also featured the Presentation of Awards, recognising outstanding achievements and contributions within the engineering community. The awards presented included:
- Tan Sri Ir. Hj. Yusoff Ibrahim – Final Year Project (FYP): 7 recipients
- Fellow Award: 17 recipients
- Best Technical Awards: 4 recipients
- Young Engineer Award: 1 recipient
- Women Engineer Award: 1 recipient
- Top Mentor Award: 5 recipients
- Top Membership Drive Award: 4 recipients

The evening continued with the IEM Annual Dinner held at Sunway Resort, attended by approximately 1,730 guests, bringing together members, industry leaders, and distinguished guests. The event was graced by YB Datuk Chang Lih Kang, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, adding further significance to the occasion. Guests were treated to an entertaining programme featuring renowned comedian Harith Iskandar and musical performances by OJKustik, creating a lively and memorable atmosphere.
The combined events reflected IEM’s strong foundation in governance and community, blending formal proceedings with celebration and networking. It was a day that not only marked leadership transition but also set a forward-looking tone for the Institution under its new President.
