MISSION 26 ENGINEER YOUR PRESENCE 2.0: The Project Management Edge for Future Leaders

The Institute of Engineers, Malaysia Young Engineers Section IEM YES, in collaboration with the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Kuala Lumpur and the IEM Project Management Technical Division (PMTD), successfully organised Mission 26 Engineer Your Presence 2.0: The Project Management Edge for Future Leaders on 18 April 2026 (Saturday) at Dewan Azman Hashim, UTM Kuala Lumpur.

Held in conjunction with the MJIIT Industrial Training Preparatory Course 2026, the programme brought together more than 200 engineering undergraduates to gain exposure to project management skills and industry practices that are often underemphasised in conventional engineering curricula. The programme began with an opening ceremony officiated by the MJIIT Deputy Dean of Academic & Student Affairs, attended by MJIIT lecturers, researchers, and students.

The highlight of the event was an insightful sharing session delivered by Ir. Noor Iziddin Abdullah bin Haji Ghazali, Chief Executive Officer of UiTM Energy & Facilities Sdn. Bhd. and a committee member of the PMTD Session 2025/2026, who emphasised the importance of project management in engineering practice.

During the session, he highlighted how engineering extends beyond technical knowledge, emphasising the importance of communication, planning, teamwork, and coordination in ensuring successful project delivery. Drawing from his vast industry experience, he also shared practical insights into managing deadlines, multidisciplinary teams, and real-world engineering challenges, giving participants a better understanding of professional engineering environments.

Participants were encouraged to develop not only technical competencies, but also leadership, communication, and adaptability skills that are essential in today’s engineering industry.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, allowing students to engage directly with the speaker on career preparation and workplace expectations. Overall, the programme successfully enhanced participants’ awareness of the importance of project management in engineering careers.

IEM YES extends its heartfelt appreciation to PMTD, Ir. Noor Iziddin Abdullah, MJIIT UTM Kuala Lumpur, the organising committee, and all participants for contributing to the success of the programme.
