IEM Young Engineers Section (IEM YES), in collaboration with ABB Malaysia, successfully organised ABB Malaysia Innovation Day 2026 under the theme “Outrun the Ordinary – Empowerment Through Innovation.” The programme served as a valuable industry-academia engagement platform aimed at exposing undergraduates and young professionals to innovation, digitalisation, sustainability, and Industry 4.0 readiness on 24th April 2026 at ABB Malaysia, Petaling Jaya.
Held in support of the Mission 26 youth development agenda, the programme highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between academia and industry through meaningful engagement and practical exposure. More than 50 students from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), University of Malaya (UM), University of Nottingham Malaysia, and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) attended the event.
The programme featured a plenary session on ABB Malaysia’s innovation ecosystem, career pathway sharing, a panel discussion on future skills for Industry 4.0, scholar experience sharing, and a guided tour of ABB Malaysia’s Customer Experience Center. Participants gained valuable insights into emerging technologies, intelligent solutions, and the evolving expectations of the engineering industry.

The event was successfully carried out and received positive feedback from participants, who expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage directly with industry professionals and gain better exposure to real-world engineering practices. The programme also strengthened collaboration between industry, academia, and professional institutions while supporting the development of future-ready engineers equipped for a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
