The Institute of Engineers, Malaysia Young Engineers Section (IEM YES), in collaboration with Persatuan SikhInside Malaysia, successfully organised Mission 26 Engineer in Action 2.0: The Food Drive Outreach Program on 1st May 2026 at Air Panas, Setapak.
The community outreach initiative aimed to promote volunteerism, compassion, and social responsibility among young engineers while supporting vulnerable communities facing food insecurity. Supported by the IEM Engineering Education Technical Division, the programme brought together a dedicated workforce of 35 volunteers comprising young engineers, students (UiTM Eco Centric Club, UTM SS), and community members.
Through strong teamwork and collective effort, the volunteers successfully packed 900 packets of essential food ration for distribution to underserved communities across Malaysia, including B40 families and immigrant communities from India, Rohingya, Indonesia, and Burma. Each ration pack contained basic necessities such as rice or flour, dhal, sugar, milk products, tea, and cooking spices to help ease the burden of families in need.
The programme also highlighted the importance of collaboration between professional institutions and community-based organisations in creating meaningful social impact. Founded in 2010, SikhInside has continuously carried out humanitarian initiatives through its food drive activities as part of its sewa (selfless service) mission.
The successful execution of the programme reflected the shared commitment of IEM YES and SikhInside towards fostering a more compassionate and inclusive society through community service and collective action.
