Gas Pipeline Blast Incident in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, Selangor

April 1st – The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) expresses its deep concern and sympathy for those injured and for the property damage caused by the gas pipe ignition, which led to an explosion and fire at Jalan Putra Harmoni, Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, Selangor.

With more than 42,000 members, including Corporate Members who are technical experts and professional engineers—some specializing in safety and health within the oil and gas industry—IEM stands ready to support and provide guidance to government agencies and local authorities in investigating this unfortunate incident.

One major concern is the proximity of the combustible facility to nearby residential areas. Additionally, the adequacy of existing safety measures and protections must be thoroughly reviewed and, if necessary, upgraded.

IEM wishes a swift recovery to all injured residents and expresses its appreciation for the dedication of the fire and rescue personnel involved in search and rescue operations and in extinguishing the blaze.
