Fostering International Engineering Synergy: IEM-CSE Exchange Session in Huzhou, China

12 August, 2025 – In a significant stride towards advancing international engineering collaboration, the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) participated in a distinguished exchange session with the Chinese Society of Engineers (CSE) in Huzhou, China. This high-level engagement was held in conjunction with the Green Low-Carbon Innovation Conference (GLCC) 2025, a globally recognised forum focused on building a green future through innovation, digital intelligence, and sustainable cooperation.

The IEM delegation was led by its President, Ir. Prof. Dr. Jeffrey Chiang Choong Luin, while the CSE was represented by Madam Luo Hui, Director General for International Affairs of CAST, Vice Chairperson, and Joint Secretary-General of CSE. Both organisations brought together expert delegations to strengthen ties, share insights, and explore new avenues of engineering development.

The exchange session encompassed a rich agenda including:

  • Introduction to the IEM’s role in promoting engineering excellence and its international engagements.
  • CSE’s initiatives in sustainable engineering and technological advancement.
  • Discussions on engineering capacity building, particularly focusing on the importance of lifelong learning and enhancing digital competencies among engineers.
  • Deliberations on fostering international collaboration to tackle global challenges through sustainable innovation.

A key highlight of the program was a keynote speech delivered by Ir. Prof. Dr. Jeffrey Chiang during the GLCC 2025, where he underscored the role of green transformation and engineering leadership in empowering the dual carbon strategy and accelerating low-carbon initiatives globally.

This collaborative session marked a pivotal moment in reinforcing engineering diplomacy, creating a robust platform for joint ventures, knowledge exchange, and cultivating future-ready engineers committed to sustainability and global progress.
